The Wombats are the Spring Bocce Champions!

A message from Art, Bocce Guru...

On Monday, May 11th (that would be yesterday) Boccelism, A & J Rollers, Wombats and Lost Balls convened to resolve our last remaining mystery.

In the first semi-final Wombats prevailed over A & J Rollers in two games by matching scores of 5 to 4. In the second semi-final Boccelism succumbed to Lost Balls, also in two games and by scores identical to the first semi-final, 5 to 4.

The finals matched the red hot Wombats, riding a four match winning streak (and needing every win to pull themselves into the playoffs) against Lost Balls, a team that had a playoff spot wrapped up by the fifth week and coasted in, losing their last two league matches. But by defeating Boccelism, the #1 seed, in their semi-final match they demonstrated that they were not to be trifled with.

The finals were decided in three games, the scores being 5 to 1, 4 to 5 and 5 to 0 in favor of the team rolling green, the Wombats. They finished the season on a five game winning streak, winning their last three league matches and two matches yesterday.

Their win in the finals made it two in a row over Lost Balls as they had closed out league play against them. In fact, their last five matches were against A & Rollers, Balloon Knots, Lost Balls, A & J Rollers and Lost Balls, in that order.

They were presented with the traveling memorial trophy and a Van Bo masterpiece. Congratulations to our new champions.
